Job Description

Are you highly technical with experience in Data Protection, Data Privacy law and regulatory compliance? We’ve an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Protection Manager to join our AXA Health Data Protection team on a 12 month fixed term contract. You’ll provide privacy compliance advice to AXA Health, primarily helping to identify and manage privacy risks arising from strategic change programmes. You’ll also support the operation of the AXA UK privacy compliance framework e.g. advising on breach management, individual rights responses, marketing queries etc. You’ll also enhance the underlying processes themselves including policy review/revision, process updates, communication and training.  

 

The ’Change’ aspect to the role allows the opportunity to work with teams such as Pricing, Customer Services, Data Science, IT and Architecture, Change, Data Platform Engineering, Data Governance, Data Security, Risk and Compliance, Legal, Third Party Risk as well as AXA Group and external third party providers. Initiative to support include Robotic Process Automation, Data Analytics and AI (including GenAI) use cases, company reorganisations, customer service transformations, claims transformation, digital transformation and new product launches.  

 

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home at our  offices, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

  • Provide privacy advice to strategic change programmes via DPIAs, papers/presentations and attendance at project meetings, highlighting risks and their potential impact while working with stakeholders on mitigating actions.
  • Design/review/enhance data privacy processes (and supporting templates/documentation) that help the Data Privacy Compliance Framework such as breach management, individual rights, DPIAs.
  • You may be required to design bespoke DP risk processes/templates, tailored to initiatives/teams’ circumstances/requirements.  
  • Keep all documentation up-to-date, clear and accessible to facilitate cross-team working.
  • Organisation and communication skills (written and verbal) are imperative.  
  • Propose solutions to process inefficiencies and act to remediate, seeking feedback from AXA UK Data Protection teams but also sometimes working with other teams and proposing change with wider impacts.  
  • Participate in discussions with the AXA UK Data Protection team, providing views on technical questions based on extensive knowledge of DP law/regulatory requirements (kept up-to-date by regular horizon scanning) and experience.
  • Review Data Protection clauses with third party providers and corporate clients (unlikely to be a major part of role, but may be required on occasion).

What you’ll bring:

 

  • Data Protection experience in a large commercial group; experience in Health insurance is preferred. Ability to achieve consensus with stakeholders on the ‘best’ approach to regulatory compliance in the circumstances– solution driven.
  • Highly technical and deep understanding of Data Privacy law and regulatory requirements (including those related to AI).
  • Good understanding of Health Insurance business and health and well-being business preferred, and the challenges associated with health data.
  • Experience working with healthcare providers and knowledge of their data governance and consent requirements is helpful but not essential.  
  • Establishing/enhancing Data Privacy compliance frameworks experience and the policies and processes that sit within them.
  • Strong commercial experience with the ability to understand & integrate business & Data Protection strategies.
  • Experience with new technology, platforms and software solutions (including arrangements and requirements with third parties).
