Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Operational Excellence Team as a Continuous Improvement Specialist, based in our Bolton office. Working with our Claims areas, you'll drive process efficiency and quality in a way that enables our people to do the right things for our customers. The Claims Continuous Improvement agenda is a priority focus in Commercial Claims and this role will support in delivering that agenda and continuing to embed the capability and culture of Continuous Improvement.

 

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at in our Bolton office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you’ll be doing:  

  • Working across claims operational areas to scope, plan, and deliver improvement activity to support the overall strategic direction through hands on delivery.
  • Work with Risk, Customer and front-line teams, leveraging customer journey maps to identify improvements to customer and broker experiences.
  • Lead process improvement projects and implementing a problem-led, data driven and evidence-based approach to recommendations and decision-making.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Working as part of project teams to deliver agreed changes, setting objectives, planning activity and ensuring that critical milestones are met.
  • Secures and deploys resources effectively and efficiently, consistently finds creative approaches and workarounds to get work complete with very constrained resources.
  • Use a systematic and data-driven approach to evaluate business challenges, ensuring that the benefits achieved through CI activities are tracked and measured to ensure successful delivery
  • Advocate the drive for a culture of Continuous Improvement within the business, empowering individuals to improve their own processes within an agreed framework of change.
  • Support and mentor process owners to enhance the organisation's skills in Continuous Improvement methodologies, while collaborating with UK&I best practices across AXA Commercial.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, preferably with a Green Belt qualification or Lean equivalent.
  • Experience of working in an Agile project environment desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder management, including the ability to influence others and navigate conflicting objectives.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to constructively question and improve existing processes.
  • Exceptional numerical proficiency and comfortable discussing financial and non-financial benefits with finance and other business leaders.
  • Utilises expertise to offer guidance and training to others on CI/OpEx methodologies, employing clear and effective verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in using the programs Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Applies knowledge and skills to work independently with support from team members as needed.
  • Comfortable with UK travel to work with stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis.
